Before you start, make sure you have met these requirements:
To install and run Nokia Software Updater application:
PC with 1GHz or higher Pentium-compatible processor
At least 256 MB of RAM (memory)
Windows 2000 (SP4 or later) or Windows XP (SP1 or SP2) or Windows Vista
Administration rights on the PC while installing
High-speed internet connection
To connect your phone to a PC:
Fully charged, compatible Nokia phone
Compatible Nokia USB connection cable
Compatible USB port on your PC
Step 2/2: Back-up data
Personal data such as contacts, photos and messages stored in the phone memory will be deleted during phone software update. It is strongly recommended that you backup this data to your memory card before updating your phone software.
To backup to your memory card:
select Tools > Memory from the main menu
select Options > Backup phone mem.
To restore info to phone memory:
select Tools > Memory from the main menu
select Options > Restore from card
Now click on the link below to proceed with the update

I have just instaled this update and so far so good. It fixed some problems I had with my apps.

Noting new firmware of nokia 5300, plz do’n cheat .. On nokia web it show only ver 5.51

the latest version i can get from nokia software updater is v5.00
i can’t even re-update and i really neaded to do it…
i think that diferent countrys mean diferent firmwares too, so you will only get the latest firmware if your country agrees with it.
i wich i could re-update…

i have seen no changes, hopefully they release a changelog soon, it´s no fake dependends on your product code to upgrade, i recommned flashing with phoenix to avoid problems.

I follow the step you show hear. But finaly, when I went to NOKIA EUROPE for checking
if there is new Version for Nokia 5300 it says YOU HAVE ALLREADY NEWEST VERSION = 05.51
What then about the shown new version 7.00 ?

It’s legit guys… I already downloaded and updated my phone with this direct from Nokia Software updater and the release date on mine says October 19, 2008.
