Sir Yuga of YugaTech has finally unveiled his own brand of Netbook – The Yugatech Netbook. Featuring the high-end specs that includes an Atom Z550, 2GB DDR3, and a generous 3G/HSDPA adapter – this surely can compete with other similar netbooks in the market. This netbook has been set to be released sometime in May with the tag price around 20-25k php ($450-500).

Hope this doesn’t go to the long list of April Fool’s stunts!(Heh!) :D

India’s Sakshat, the $20 Laptop

india-laptop-1As expected, India’s $20 laptop was officially unveiled yesterday, despite ongoing worries that the device won’t become available at that price point. Officials responsible for what is now known as the “Sakshat” laptop have declared that this portable system will be priced at $10. Availability is slated for six months after the laptop goes into mass production. The Sakshat, which is the fruit of a project that was meant to provide an alternative to OLPC’s XO laptop, is expected to come with 2GB of memory, which can be expanded. The system is said to boast Wi-Fi and fixed Ethernet capability and consume no less than 2 watts of power. As mentioned in previous articles, the laptop was designed as an educational tool and is the result of a project that involved the cooperative effort of the Indian government and academic institutions. Nokia opens BP-6M battery case

Ballooning batteries gets Nokia alarmed

cb931tz3The Register UK reports, Nokia has admitted that some customers are seeing BP-6M batteries, as used in the N73 handset, ballooning to several times their original size, and in some cases to such an extent that the phone case won’t close.

El Reg first heard about the problem from a reader just after Christmas, and Nokia has been investigating since. Today the company assures us that the issue is nothing to be concerned about, and customers who find their batteries bulging should nip down to their nearest service centre for a free replacement.
