Eastman Kodak has issued lawsuits against both Apple and Blackberry maker Research in Motion, claiming neither of them has licensed its patents despite using the technology described therein and having been warned about it by Kodak.
The photography pioneer said the alleged infringement centered on intellectual property protecting a method for previewing colour images and the processing of images of different resolutions. It filed complaints against both Apple and RIM with the US District Court for Western New York.
This proposal aims to implement the Direct UI paradigm and rewrite S60 applications using Orbit widgets and Qt APIs. Direct UI supports touch and hybrid devices. Kai Öistämö (Nokia’s EVP of Devices) presented this sneak peek at the design that would result from Direct UI at Nokia’s Capital Markets Day. via Symbian Developer
Nokia has submitted a patent infringement complaint against apple for the second time. The latest complaint covers the alleged infringes in Nokia patents in its whole mobile portfolio. The Finnish giant sued Apple over alleged infringement on its GSM, UMTS, and WLAN patents last year.

Just got a PR from Nokia Philippines, denoting the Nokia 5230 as a new addition to its growing list of touchscreen phones, is now locally available in the country. The phone is somewhat identical to the recently released Nokia 5530 XpressMusic which sports a better camera at 3.2MP and Wi-Fi but lacks 3G capabilities. While the latter one’s features an HSDPA 3G, a slightly better battery and minus the XpressMusic branding which should make the difference between the two. What is surprising is that both handsets do not have TV-functionality, a feature users rarely use. However, the phone is complemented by AGPS navigation.

JBC at the Nokia Conversations stated on his post that RnB Star Rihanna will be at the Brixton Academy tonight then head into the Nokia Store on Regent Street. This tour is likely part of the promotion of the upcoming Nokia X6 which is set to be released sometime this month. JBC also mentioned that there are plenty of tickets still available for grabs.
